Your iPad needs to be updated…

In an effort to encourage our users to keep their iPad’s software updated we have added some reminders on your iPad.  Once the iPad has been updated the reminders should disappear.  Follow the instructions below for information on how to keep updated with the latest iOS software.

You can update your iPad to the latest version of iOS wirelessly.

Before you update Make a backup of your device using iCloud or iTunes.

Update your device wirelessly

If a message says that an update is available, tap Install Now. You can also follow these steps:

  1. Plug your device into power and connect to the Internet with Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap Settings > General > Software Update. software update screen
  3. Tap Download and Install. If a message asks to temporarily remove apps because iOS needs more space for the update, tap Continue or Cancel. Later, iOS will reinstall apps that it removed. If you tap Cancel, learn what to do next.
  4. To update now, tap Install. Or you can tap Later and choose Install Tonight or Remind Me Later. If you tap Install Tonight, just plug your iOS device into power before you go to sleep. Your device will update automatically overnight.
  5. If asked, enter your passcode. If you don’t know your passcode, learn what to do.

If you see an error or need more space when updating wirelessly

If you see an error message while trying to update your device wirelessly, learn what to do. If you need more space for a wireless update, you can  delete content manually from your device.   VPN or proxy connections might also prevent your device from contacting the iOS update servers.   It is required that you remove any VPN you are attempting to use before updating.

Update automatically

With iOS 12, you can have your iOS device update automatically. To turn on automatic updates, go to Settings > General > Software Update > Automatic Updates. Your iOS device will automatically update to the latest version of iOS. Some updates might need to be installed manually.

If after updating your iPad things do not return to normal you may need to “Sync” your iPad with the management system to let it know you have updated and are now in compliance to have restrictions lifted. The Intelligent Hub app (formerly known as AirWatch Agent) needs to communicate with the servers to confirm that  your device is now compliant. To get the device to communicate the connection needs to be Sync’ed.

Refresh the Intelligent Hub connection

  1. Open the Hub app.
         2. Tap on row labeled This Device
     3. Tap on the Sync Device button.
     4. Tap OK on the pop up and close Intelligent Hub.
The device will now sync with the server in the background and the system should update the device’s compliance status shortly.  If you continue to experience issues please visit your school’s Help Desk for additional support.
