   01. How Do I Access My Preferences?
 
 
 
 1. Click the Preferences button in the FirstClass toolbar.
 

 
 2. The Preferences window will open and a series of preferences tabs will be displayed.
 
 3. For all of the Preferences tabs, make your desired changes and then click the Apply button or OK to apply the changes.
 
 
   02. General Preferences
 

 

 
 1. The General Preferences tab gives users a series of options:
  • Register FirstClass as default mail client
     
   
  • 3D Look

 
   
  • Use forms background
    (Allows you to change the background of
    FirstClass windows)

 
  • Download folder
    Allows you to set a default download folder
 
 
   03. Calendaring Preferences
 
 
 
 1. Calendaring Preferences include:
  • Show week numbers on calendar
  • Week start day (day of week)
  • Start of work day (time)
  • Length of work day (hours)
  • Event start time interval
  • Event duration default

 
 2. Make any changes and choose Apply or OK.
 
 
   04. Content Preferences - Editing Mail
 
 
 
 1. The Content Preferences tab contains an Edit tab and a View tab.

The Edit tab allows you to control the settings for any new FirstClass mail content that you create:

  • Font
  • Size
  • Color
  • Spell check
  • URLs, etc.

 
 2. Make any changes and choose Apply or OK.
 
 
   05. Content Preferences - Viewing
 
 
 
 1. The View tab allows you to control the settings for how you view incoming mail messages:
  • Zoom
  • Images (show or hide)
  • Quoted text appearance
  • Link appearance
 2. Make any changes and choose Apply or OK.
 
 
 06. Viewing Preferences
 
 1. The Viewing tab allows you to specify viewing preferences for your Mailbox, conferences, folders, and calendars.
  • Show newest items first
  • Show only unread items
  • Client interface (leave at Default)
  • Time zone
 2. Make any changes and choose Apply or OK.
 
 07. Messaging Preferences - Mail Rules
 
 1. The Messaging tab contains three sub-tabs: Mail Rules, Signature, and Chat.

The Mail Rules tab allows you to set some basic preferences for mail handling, and create some more advanced rules for how your account handles incoming and outgoing mail.


 
 2. Reply preference
  • Allows you to set your reply button in your mailbox toolbar to Reply Sender, Reply Automatic, or Reply All.

 
 3. Automatically reply to:
  • Local Mail
    Allows you to auto-reply to FirstClass users.
    This is useful for out-of-office messages.
  • Internet Mail
    Creates auto-reply for mail coming from the outside. It is not recommended that you auto-reply to mail from the internet, as sometimes
 4. Automatically forward:
  • Allows you to forward your FirstClass mail to a different mail account.
  • Choosing Redirect automatically sends the mail to the forwarding address without it appearing in your FirstClass account.
  • Choosing Forward creates a copy in your FirstClass account and forwards the mail to your forwarding address.
 5. Junk Mail handling:
  • Accept or Delete Silently
 6. Mailbox Rules
  • See the Mail Rules button for advanced
    Mail Rules Features.
 7. Make any changes and choose Apply or OK.
 
 08. Messaging Preferences - Inserting a Signature
 
 1. The Signature tab allows you to create a signature line for your mail messages, and to select whether you would like to automatically insert that signature into all new messages.
 
 2. To create a signature, type the text that you would like to insert into your mail messages in the white space.
 
 3. To automatically insert the signature into all new messages, check the "Automatically add" check box.
 
 4. If you choose not to automatically insert the signature, you can always manually insert it by clicking the Insert Signature button in any mail message.
 
 7. Make any changes and choose Apply or OK.
 
 09. Messaging Preferences - Chat
 
 1. The Chat tab allows you to set basic chat preferences:
  • Refuse chat invitations
  • Play sounds during chat and invite
