Downloading an Attachment from a Mail Message

When you receive a mail message with an attachment, the attachment icon
will appear next to the message (blue paperclip). |

Open your mail message and read the message. |
|
| 3. |
|
Locate the attachment beneath the To: field in the mail message. The
Attachments field will indicate the name of the file attached and the
file size.
In the example to the right, the file is a document that is 20K. |

If you do not see the Attachments area, but you know there should be an
attachment on the message, drag the bar separating the beige area of the
message from the white space of the message to expand the window, or
scroll down on the right side of the message window. |

Right-click (PC) or Control-click (Mac) on the file name to bring up the
attachment menu.

Choose Save Attachment...
Note: While View File is an option, it is better to choose
Save Attachment so that you can choose a destination and save the file
appropriately.

Select a destination for your file, depending on your own preferences.
You might want to save to a folder on your hard drive, to the Desktop of
your computer, or to your disk-on-key. Choose Save. |

A File Transfer status window will open to indicate the progress of the
download. |

When the download is complete, you can close the status window and open
your downloaded file from its saved location. |

Choosing a Default Download Folder

You may wish to specify a certain folder for all of your FirstClass
downloads. |

Open the FirstClass Preferences by clicking the Preferences icon on the
First Class toolbar.
|

In the General tab of the Preferences window, locate the Download
folder dialog box. Click Browse. |

Browse your computer for the folder you would like to use. Click OK.
|

When you return to the Preferences window, click OK to apply the
changes.

Create a new mail message, address it, and compose your message.
|

Click the Attach file button in the toolbar. |

Browse your computer for the file you would like to attach.. Select
the file and click Open.

upload. Do not send your message until the upload is complete.
When the upload is complete, choose Close.

Attaching Multiple Files to a Mail Message

Create a new mail message, address it, and compose your message.

Click the Attach file button in the toolbar. |

Browse your computer for the file you would like to attach.. Select
the file and click Open.
|

A File Transfer status window will open to indicate the progress of the
upload. Do not send your message until the upload is complete.
When the upload is complete, choose Close.

Repeat the process to attach as many files as you wish.
|

If you have multiple files in one location (one folder, the
desktop) to attach, you can upload them all at once: |

Click the Attach file button in the toolbar. |

Browse your computer for the files you would like to attach..

Holding down the SHIFT key, click on each of the files you wish to
attach to select them.

Click Open.

The File Transfer status window will indicate the progress of the
upload, and upon completion will show the number of files attached. |

Deleting Attached Files from Unsent Messages

Click ONCE on the attachment you wish to delete. |

Press the Delete key on your keyboard, or click the Delete
button in the FirstClass toolbar.
|
|
| 3. |
|
You will be asked if you wish to delete the attachment. |

Click Delete to remove the attachment from the unsent message. |
|
